Last weekend, we joined Councilmember Kristin Palmer at the Cutoff Recreation Center in Algiers to celebrate all the new great ways to bike around Algiers! Through her determined advocacy, the Mississippi Levee Trail has been extended more than two miles all the way to and from the Chalmette Ferry Terminal.
We took the opportunity to host a bike tour of the new on-street low-stress bikeway network, along Newton St, Lawrence St, Wall Blvd, Westbend Pkwy, and MacArthur Blvd. These streets (except one, which is coming soon) all have new low-stress bikeways creating new safe connections between neighborhoods across upper and lower Algiers.
Check out some pics below and don’t forget to sign on in support of low-stress biking in Algiers!
