This coming Tuesday we hope you’ll join us for a special evening in the open air to hear from New Orleans’ next City Councilmembers about their priorities on the issues surrounding our infrastructure, transportation systems, and everything Complete Streets! RSVP and submit your questions here! Make sure the next City Council shares your concerns when it comes to the safety, accessibility, affordability and sustainability of moving around New Orleans!
Nellie Catzen, executive director of the Committee for a Better New Orleans, a member organization in the New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition, will host and moderate the discussion.
City Council At-Large candidates confirmed to join Nellie onstage include:
- Councilmember Kristin Palmer (District C)
- Former State Senator JP Morrell
- Councilmember Jared Brossett (District D)
- Bart Everson
- Kenneth Cutno
It’s more important than ever for these leaders to stay focused on building smart and resilient infrastructure, more equitable transportation systems, and innovative uses of public space. Whether it’s in an emergency as a hurricane approaches, or on a typical weekday as we head to work, school, the local park, access a health care provider or any other trip around town, the need for expanded access to affordable and sustainable transportation options is critical to making a difference on so many of the challenges New Orleans faces.
All candidates for City Council and Mayor have been asked to complete our Complete Streets questionnaire ahead of this special event. We’ll share their answers throughout the evening at the Broadside, via our livestream of the event, and afterwards on nolacompletestreets.org.
We’re excited to be able to share the assembled knowledge and priorities of this next collection of local leaders! See you Tuesday!
