Statement from New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition on Pedestrian Death

New Orleans Complete Streets Coalition

“One death of a person walking our city streets is too many. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person killed by a hit-and-run last night on North Claiborne near Esplanade Avenue.

No matter the circumstances, our streets should be built to safely accommodate everyone – people walking, biking, riding the bus, the streetcar or driving their car. Most of these tragedies are entirely preventable. Today is yet another reminder of the urgent need to improve our region’s approach to safe, accessible streets.”
